Was closing being delayed by the lender or the seller? If the seller was holding things up it isn't the lenders fault. The real question is when you were approaching the rate lock expiration why weren't the lender giving you a reminder and updated options. What is the rate differential? An 1/8 or 1/4% From your description, sounds like the lender is willing to honor the old rate lock but not forever. ... more
