If you don't have kids, I say rent. You aren't saving money by buying a house. If anything, renting is a huge advantage because you only have to insure your own stuff, not the entire building you live in. You don't have to pay thousands if your dishwasher craps out and ruins your kitchen floor or your building needs a new roof. You don't have to waste your weekends cutting the grass or other annoying maintenance.
IF you're going to stay put for many years, you can make money owning a house but that's no guarantee.
Renting gives you freedom to move to whatever area makes the most sense for you right now. Once you own a house, you can't relocate as easily. Renting is a good way to test a neighborhood before you commit to being tied to it.... more
Most of the military families that I have worked with over the years normally sell their home so they can buy where they are being stationed. I do not know of many military rental owned properties but I do not handle rentals. YOu may need to contact a property manager. Best of luck to you.... more
