Unfortunately, the other answers here are largely correct. Most agents won't address crime statistics. I can understand the problem with terms such as "high crime area," since your definition of high crime and some else's might be different. Still, if the FBI or your local police issue reports on crime in a particular area, I remain puzzled that agents can't even make those available to potential purchases. Still....
One tip that has't been offered here. Go to the community and talk to neighbors. Find out what they think. They'll be willing to talk, and you're likely to get better information anyway. Sometimes crimes aren't reported, but they still happen. Other times (and this happened with a property I own) there was a 1-man crime wave. A lone person, from dozens of miles away, burglarized multiple houses. Yes, the crime statistics really shot up...until he was caught. Now the area is--as it was before--virtually crime free. You won't get that insight from looking at statistics on reported crime.
