It could become tiring after awhile...
Maybe MapQuest or Google from where you'll be leaving, to where you're going, around the time you'll be traveling, and that may give you an accurate commute time. :)

From the front door of the house to the courthouse - 5.6 miles.

I love Lisa's answer - 14 stop lights is right. Not within walking distance unless you're in really great shape and/or training for a marathon. Good news is that you're only 2 miles from the mall, Wal-Mart, and Trader Joe's, and just over a mile from Costco.

It's actually quicker to drive to Prescott Valley's shopping district at 4.1 miles.

Yes, it looks like it is close to the bus.

825 S River Dr Convenience and easy access to the places you need to go are key considerations in today's economy. Gas is too expensive to waste driving unnecessarily. When you live in our Tempe rentals you are close to both the 101 and 202 freeways. Our location is one block west of the 101 on University Drive; you'll be out of your door and on your way in minutes! If you prefer to save even more gas, park the car and take advantage of the Metro or bus, they're close by as well. ... more

This is located in an East/Central part of town. There are multiple bus stops within a few block of this apartment complex. If you are interested in knowing more about properties for sale in this area feel free to give me a call or drop me an email. Also, it may be cheaper to find a condo in this area, somewhere between 35-50k, before renting. Home loans are very inexpensive and can help you leverage the property to decrease your monthly expenses substantially.

Best of luck,
Michael Shiner.

We have friends across Speedway and maybe six blocks west. They are the second house from Speedway. When we visit, I sometimes notice the noise but do not find it distracting. For a frame of reference, we live in a small subdivision probably half an hour from any four-lane road, and can often go an hour without hearing a car. THAT is quiet. When we visit metro Atlanta, the 24 hour noise makes me nervous, and was part of the reason we left.

Hope this helps.

Lori Hicks and Toni D'Avello answered:
For every success story, there is a business that struggled to regain customers it lost during construction when roadwork made it difficult for people to find their way into the parking lot. Business owners in lesser-heralded locations say light rail simply funnels its riders to sought-after destinations like Tempe's Mill Avenue or downtown Phoenix.

The next light-rail extension, scheduled to open in 2016, would go from the Sycamore station in Mesa to Main Street and Mesa Drive. People are still unsure of whether the rail will have a positive or negative impact on business.
