Rich Reed answered:
Hi, Martin. Do you mean a contract that you've already signed? Month-to-month or a long term lease? If you honor the contract or successfully negotiate an agreement to terminate it, there should be no effect on your credit score. If you breach the contract, the landlord may ding your credit and/or file suit. Consult with an attorney.

If you haven't signed a rental or lease agreement, there should be no impact on your credit score, except possibly very minor due to the landlord's credit inquiry, if one was made.

If you are/were represented by an agent, check with your agent.

Hope this is helpful!

The agent who put it into Trulia must be the one to remove it.

Hi-
In most cases, you do not need to provide your actual social security card, just the number. Here is a list of what you will need to rent a place:
-completed rental application
-minimum 2 months of pay stubs to prove income
-current credit report with FICO scores
-bank statement showing enough savings to cover move-in costs
-landlord references (optional but great to have)
-Copy of ID

Good luck!

Please try to work with a reputable property management company to find a rental for you or call a Realtor who can look in the MLS for you for rentals or who lives near the area you want to rent in. Whichever route you take, please also click on my profile here on Trulia & read my 2 blog posts called "RENTAL SCAMS - RED FLAGS - PUBLIC BEWARE" so you don't get scammed. There are many many many rental scammers out there.

My blog postings will help to keep you safe.

I don't look back on this same Trulia thread for answers posted after mine.
