Are you sure you want a townhouse? Parking is a major problem with these types of structures....

I rented in Center Square for about a year, some years ago, and my car got broken into twice (not a new or expensive car) and my apartment was broken into while I was at work (walked to Empire State Plaza). I never had such problems in Pine Hills.

Center Square LOOKS nice and gentrified but there are a lot of hard core drug addicts around Lark Street and towards Central...

My advise: Stay away... Center Square is over priced, a parking nightmare and not really safe. There is much better value for the money in Pine Hills or further west in the Washinton/Western Corridor and you can still ride a bike or jump on a bus to work..

Not sure where Ed is talking about - possibly another city. However, this address is located in the Park South neighborhood of downtown Albany. It was somewhat revitalized a few years back, but the crime and violence is still present. If you have a family I would definitely take a pass on this property in lieu of another in a safer neighborhood. ... more

I live in the Ten Broeck Triangle. I have lived almost everywhere in Albany except for the South End and this neighborhood is by far the most diverse in every respect. We have everybody mixed together, from heads of State Agencies, to yuppies, to a few down and out people. Lots of homeowners and a few who have lived here 40 or 60 years! People really care about the neighborhood and watch out for each other.

I have 2 dogs and walk them at all hours and always feel safe. Before this I lived in S. Lake Ave by Albany Med and my car was seriously vandalized three times by college kids coming home drunk from the bars. If I came home late and had to park around the corner (parking is only bad two nights around here, not every night like down by Albany Med) I would feel unsafe.

By contrast, this neighborhood is both quiet and safe. It's at the bottom of Arbor Hill, not directly in West Hill.. Please don't be swayed by uninformed and bigoted people out there. This is a great neighborhood. As long as I live in Albany, I wouldn't live anywhere else. It's interesting and nice here.
