No city is entirely free of some kind of criminal activity --- but if you compare our city with other cities, block by block, you will find that our city shines. Factor in the livability, commuting distance, schools, amenities, and price of properties, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Depending on your budget, you may want to look at another part of the city. But if you're looking for deals that do not include condos and townhouses, take a look at the bank owned properties on

1542 Sherman for $449K
2017 Lincoln for $423K

There's a really nice Craftsman bungalow at 1316 Burbank for $479K -- this is a fabulous and well-known street famed for its bungalows, neighborhood parties, close to the park and the beach.

I have lived in various parts of Alameda over the last 35 plus years. Currently I live in the most center of the island. I only hear planes from SFO when the weather forces the use of a different runway. This is only for short periods of time during stormy weather and has not been a bother or quality life issue.
