Trulia is a very mediocre "real estate" website. It's really just a marketing site for them to make $$ off us agents and lenders. The data gets pulled from various sources, such as local MLS systems, public records, etc. The data isn't very up to date nor accurate. It also doesn't have the greatest search functionality. With that said, if you are serious about buying or selling, please do not rely on this website and hire a PRO. It is not intended to replace the MLS or the services of a professional. It's just a starting point. I suggest you contact a local REALTOR to assist you with your real estate needs. Good luck! ... more

Is your home listed for sale?? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Trulia is just a marketing website that pulls data from various sources, such as MLSs and public records. The data here isn't always accurate. It's possible the data is coming from an old MLS listing OR your county assessor's office. So...if you go to the source of the incorrect data....you could be opening up a can of worms. By correcting the info with your county assessor's office....guess what....they'll reward you with HIGHER TAXES!!!! And if the inaccuracies are due to unpermitted work done -- i.e. you finished a basement without permits....then you'll get to pull permits, and have inspectors come out and check out the work....and they'll possibly fine you....and possibly require you to rebuild according to city code...and get a certificate of occupancy. All that just to correct some numbers on a stupid website. Think about it.

Honestly... if you're not selling your home, I wouldn't worry about it.

There are often real estate agents who will offer a flat-rate service to put a home on the MLS as a for sale by owner. You can find these types of agents by just doing a search for flat rate realtor on Google. Once your listing is posted on the MLS, then it should automatically populate to sites like Trulia if that board of realtors has an agreement with them (most do). Best of luck to you. ... more

Trulia Customer Service answered:
Hi Tami and Keith,

Kristan from Trulia's Customer Service here. Once you are logged into your Trulia profile, move your mouse to the top right corner of your screen and click on 'My Listings' from the drop down menu. Click on the 'For Sale' or 'For Rent' tab in the middle of your screen. Click on the 'Edit Listing' button for the listing you wish to edit. On the left side of the new window, click on Price and Details. Here, you can make any changes to the listing. Click on Save Price and Details when you have completed the changes.

Trulia is a host site, where information is sent to us from syndication websites. We do not pull listing data from the MLS, or any other site. agent and Brokers also have the ability to manually upload their listings onto Trulia.

If you have additional questions, please contact us at http://www.trulia.com/help/ask/ or call Customer Service at 1-888-466-3501.

Bonnie's question was over a year ago. We use FireFox, running Windows 7. About a month (Jan 2013) ago we noticed that we could not reposition maps on Trulia nor Zillow.

This makes it much more difficult to search in neighborhoods.

Guessing this is something on our end. Suggestions?

Hi there Deemer,

I'm Andrew, a community manager here in Trulia Voices, and so I can speak on Trulia's behalf.

Don and Oggi are quite right. We rely on listing information from our real estate professional partners including MLS and Tax Records.

However, unlike those other services, we are dedicated to make it as easy and simple as possible for the people who know the home best to update our information; you.

It takes a few moments to update your Home Facts, and also gives you the opportunity to update the home with facts and tidbits that may have been missed.

If the home in question is on the market, go to that home on our page and click "More", then "Report an error"
If the home is off the market, just click "Claim This Home", then "Edit Home Details"

Let me know if I can help out more!

Andrew
