I have not had a direct lead from a magazine add. I did have one Buyer walk in with an ad cut out from the newspaper...who've turned into repeat clients. We have decided as an office to continue the magazine ads because our Sellers like it and we think it helps get listings. I have had potential Buyers walk into the office with a magazine and multiple different homes circled (from multiple different offices). Who knows, it could help them decide to walk into our office rather than another. Of course, they are directed to the up agent and it's difficult to tell how much benefit I get from this marketing method. I have to say, I personally enjoy browsing through the magazines here in my market and when I travel.

Never one real lead from any print ad of any type for me. Internet, open houses and networking maybe gets me 20% of my business. The rest is shere and past clients. Sellers like to see their homes for sale in the paper but I'm pretty sure I 'm not the only person with these stats.

I think it is difficult to determine if the "Homes for Sale" works. Interestingly enough I got my first lead in real estate from my first listing ad the magazine. However, I can't remember another lead I can contribute to the same magazine. I think it is like the internet, everyone says you have to be on the internet, sometihing like 90% of home buyers start their search on the internet but when I quiz agents who have web sites I have yet to find an agent who can quantify the value of their site, but they all believe they should be there. I think many people thumb through the Homes for Sale" magazine the same way they click through the internet.

Net net, I think you have to be there because your competition is there.

Love your area. My sister & bro-in-law work in Arlington, live in Brighton. In my opinion, the print media is pretty dead. I do as little print advertising as possible these days and most of the agents in this area have terminated their contacts w. the local TV program which features real estate ads. I can't remember the last year I got anything from the TV or print media. Absolutely everything I get comes from yard signs, being up agent or mainly the internet.
