My experience has been that social networking sites for real estate and for vacation homes and properties is that when people search for information around what they are looking for, you get better quality leads when they find you and they are more inclined to do business because they've read extensively about you. One of the challenges can be when there is a closed group or discussion forum that you want to share, someone will have to sign up for that site or be invited into the group. Public open and accessible information is superior, so you can link back to that content and provide more information to your reader as needed.
When people are looking for real estate information about vacation homes, for instance, if they can find a subject matter expert in the discussion forums for US real estate or for international, they are much more inclined to do business with those people than with people who are just giving them the generic marketing pitch.
