Tuck Pointing Work for 22 story building?

Asked by Bill J Deligiannis, Naperville, IL Mon May 13, 2013

Need to do some spot tuck pointing in a few areas of a residential building in Chicago. Does anyone know of any licensed contractors who would be able to rappel to the desired areas for the work?

Check Angie's List. Any tuckpointing work will need environmental hazard permits and special equipment in the City of Chicago.

Riggio Boron Ltd. http://www.riggioboron.net.
This would be like child's play for them. They specialize in curtain wall/exterior building and restoration repair. I was involved with a subcontractor when they were contracted to do the exterior of the Hancock Center in the past. If your client is looking for a low ball bid company, this isn't the right company for them. Good luck.

This is going to require a major masonry contractor and a ton safety work. Start with the large construction firms, you can get some information for the mason and bricklayer's union as well.
Good luck.

The entire building WILL NOT be tuckpointed. Just a few areas need TLC and since scaffolding is not cost effective, will need to rappel to the area.

The best way to find a good company to do this service is to find a few places with a good reputation and good reviews. From there you should be able to find out which companies you would want to work with by getting a quote from them. Then you can make your decision based on price. when you talk to the companies just make sure they have the equipment necessary to work on your project.
