Social Media is all the hype right now. Does social media work for you in real estate?

Posting relevant content about the community brings value - not just what you had for lunch or the newest listing and open house. Engaging your friends, family, past clients is key and are all good ways to add to what you already do to sustain relationships. Notice something a friend posts and bring it up in conversation when you meet face to face or over the phone, which is a connecting action than a mere post to a wall. This shows you are paying attention and people tend to like that.

Most of our past, current and future clients don't use social media on a regular basis. They're too busy playing golf or tennis, hiking in the Sierras, fly fishing, wine tasting, meeting friends for dinner, going on romantic cruises, serving on non-profit boards, and running their successful businesses. If your ultimate client profile matches the profile of frequent social media users, then it's probably a good idea to work that marketing channel - our target client doesn't, so we don't.

Social media has been of some benefit, But nothing replaces prospecting and talking with people every single day...
I have done so much on the internet and expected great things, But the truth is, Nothing replaces person to person communication.

Any online exposure is a bonus. Use any and all avenues to provide information to your target market.

I've found that anything and everything I can do to increase my internet presence helps to grow my business whether directly or indirectly. You want to be where the buyers are and study after study says that 90%+ of them are starting their real estate search on the internet. Best of luck to you.

Pick up the phones and look for business daily. Waiting for the business is dangerous.

Hello Christal,
I find that blogging is beneficial in getting you more exposure and attracting leads. Sometimes Google picks it up to further that exposure.

Facebook is the #1 social media site. I've noted that agents who have a large following incorporate a FB business page as well as their regular page to attract more business.

Youtube is a great way to advertise your listings and give them additional exposure by posting virtual tours there.

Try it for awhile to determine if it works for you.

Good luck!

Hey Christal,
Just like Keith & Kinsey said social Media definitely helps. If done right one can get both buyer and seller leads by positioning yourself as a local expert. More and more people are on social networking sites, it's a great place to market to people where they spend most of there time.

Social media has definitely helped us stay in touch with past clients, get referrals, spread our network, and achieve brand recognition. Social media has also helped us market listings, open houses, etc. It has definitely giving us more clients (buyers and sellers).
