Question for all Realtors about Supra Key Box

Asked by John, San Lorenzo, CA Mon Mar 31, 2008

Can a member of Realtor of San Mateo County access a Supra Key Box at properties located at San Joaquin County?
If the answer is "no" and the property listed is by a broker located at Southern California (San Diego), what is the proper procedure to view the property? I appreciate if someone could help me find out these questions, Thank You.

John

If the process is anything like it is for Southern California, you visit your local board to have a keybox "deprogrammed" and then take the lockbox to the board the listing is located in and they should be able to "program" it for that area. If the agent placed a lockbox on a home in San Joaquin County without performing this procedure then most likely local supra keys will not be able to access the lockbox. Call the listing agent to find out how to gain access and and inquire as to if they did the proper procedure. Most likely you will need to go the board the listing is located in and have them program your lockbox key to be able to access that MLS area. Good luck!

Hi John,

Just check with your local board. If they have reciprocity, the board will just put a passcode on your Supra Key Box so you can use it in San Joaquin, It's not like you're a stone's throw away from each other. If all else fails...well you know the rest.
All the best,

Hi John. I think that San Mateo and San Joaquin counties enjoy reciprocity. I know that I can access properties in San Joanquin county as it is part of the agreement that my MLS (Metrolist) worked out with the MLS that covers San Joaquin county. I think the same is true for San Mateo. The recent trend has been to make more areas available to more agents from other areas. If you have any concerns about accessibility, I would recommend that you call the San Joaquin Association of Realtors as they know exactly who can access what. You agent most likely knows what the coverage area is for his/her MLS. The answer is only a phone call away. Good luck.

A Samcar Member SUPRA KEY works in the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Monterey,
San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz.
A local Realtor in San Joaquin County can be obtained thru Referral and can contact the Listing Agent
to schedule a showing. (The Local Realtor provides important Local Information as well as work with you to obtain maximum Credits as well as protection on the front end as well as back end of the Deal).

Call SAMCAR. I don't think REIL will be able to help with this one.

Hello John,

I have seen where the agent listing a property is from another county. If they are a member of that assn. they may have purchased a lockbox or they may use a some other type of combo lock for that particular property. I would give them a call and find out the access details.
