and we are now the exclusive real estate brokerage firm licensed to display MLS listings in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island and I was wondering what your opinions on are. This is the reason many broker's are loathe to approve IDX! We put out listings into the MLS to allow the listings to be posted to the internet via our web sites only to have a company make a "business model" and get a company to go into business with them for the experss purpose of generating leads only to them from OUR listings. This is why ZIP got the DOJ all excited about restraint of trade issues.
It makes me want to opt out of submitting my listings to the internet. I belive it is a corruption of the initial reaons why we wanted to post our listigns to the internet THROUGH our MLS systems. It was never meant to become an "exclsive" arrangement with ONE company through another to gain an upper hand over your fellow Realtors. It our actions like this which will drive the bigger brokes to consolidate into large blocks of listings which will put them on an uneven playing field and defeat the cooperative nature of the MLS. Good luck!
