Once you log in, click on My Voices Activity and scroll toward the bottom of the page. Just under your Total Points, it says the following: * If your point total is less than the sum of all points you’ve received for each activity listed above, one or more of your posts on Trulia Voices have been removed by Trulia moderators.

There's a more detailed explanation of how the points work on the My Voices Page. You may find an explanation of why your points are not where you think they should be when you dig into the details.

I hope that gives you a good starting point.

Only started in Trulia a week ago. I'd like to secure the VIP status, but it is tough to accumulate 3,000 points. I've always been a high achiever.....

If you have previously sold properties, Trulia allows you to load them onto your profile under sold homes, even if they were sold a while back. That will help you accumulate points more quickly. If the agent on the other side will verify your transaction, you'll gain more points. Recommendations bump your points up significantly, as well.

I have had mine "adjusted" twice in the last week or so;
1,000 last time, and 1,500 two days ago:
I sent them e-mails; they gave me back the 1000, but have yet to respond from this latest.

I have lost points in the past, with no explanation; maybe for something I said, I don't know.
I just know that I'm getting tired of it!

Robert i will add it appears the profile views have been changed to 0 and my points are missing for that as well. Check your voices activity and look at your profile views to see if it is the same.

Points should never go down, even if you did not post anything or answer any questions for a month, Now if you had answers or posts that were removed for being against the rules, your points would be deducted. and YES JOHN, points do matter as they used to affect where you were ranked and where you showed up in the search. With all the negative changes though, the search seems a bit messed up now.

Zero points this morning. The glitch strikes again. VERY FRUSTRATING.

Me too, Robert. Trulia will have to figure this out if they want to continue to draw agents.

I called on the latest problem I had and also sent and email. My points drastically went down last week and points in some categories that I had significant points in dropped to zero. I finally received a response which indicated that their were aware of the problem and working on it.

About your profile on Trulia.
Just as your points went down, in a few weeks it just might go up again. In realiyt, it irrelevant.
You should be aware, Trulia has great control over how and when a link to your profile is presented to a website user. The following is from an email sent from Trulia regarding the Agent Directory which ranks how and when you will be presented.
=
FROM THE EMAIL:
How can I boost my rank in the agent directory?
Trulia Find an Agent ranks real estate agents on a variety of factors that help us match buyers and sellers with the right agent for their search. Here are some ways to boost your ranking:
1.Answer buyer and seller questions in Trulia Voices
2.Make sure your profile is complete to show off your skills
3.Add your sold homes or active listings to your Trulia profile
4.Request recommendations from former and current clients
5.Market yourself with one of Trulia’s advertising solutions
6.Respond quickly to leads you capture on Trulia
END OF EMAIL
-
It should be noted there is no reference to points. TUs, BAs or blogs.
4, 5 and 6 are the biggies. You should send yourself an inquiry/lead using one of your other email accounts. The 'reward' for accumulating points is simply self-gratification and the occaisional 'atta girl' received when a TU or BA occurs.

Meanwhile...Have fun!

At one time, I was like many here at Trulia. I got caught up in the point producing results. Then when Trulia decided to change the way things were done, I lost thousands of points and never got them back. When that happened, I was only 4 points away from VIP3.

On another occasion, I lost thousands of points due to a "glitch" in the system, which to my knowledge has never been figured out. If it has, I haven't benefited from the result.

I now have no VIP status and I no longer care about the status or the VIP #. I am here to help where I can and I also pick up useful information from time to time. I like the fact that there is a place where would-be buyers and sellers can ask questions and get intelligent answers - well, usually anyway.

So if by answering questions or commenting on someone's blog I just happen to get points, so be it. Otherwise, I'm just hanging around for the fun. Very busy with real estate. Not much time for fun these days. Not complaining though.

They changed their profile format, which is something all of these companies do, so that you ad more content and also to try and get you to sign up with them. That's where they make their money. Not off of free profiles. So, you will need to go into your profile and it will show you where/what you can do to get more points.
