I would like to know how much I should expect to spend to get my Real Estate license. All associated fee's. Only looking to be an apartment locator

Asked by Eric Woorland, Dallas, TX Fri Feb 21, 2014

I have found someone who let me work under their brokerage company for a flat monthly fee. I am looking to be a part time apartment locator.

Can someone list out all of the fees I should expect to pay to be a legal apartment locator working for commission

All states have different prices. For example, in NYC in average only school and State Exam will cost you around 500$

I agree with Lynn. You might also talk with others locators and Realtors for advice. It's a tough business.

1. Contact real estate schools local to area you can probably do it on line
2. Your broker stating you can hang your license there should be able to assist you provide you all fees required to become an agent.

Eric,
You're going to need to pay for the school you attend, either online or in-person; the cost varies. You'll have to pay for the test, your background check and fingerprints, the cost of joining your MLS or Local Board of Realtors or both.
I've attached a link to the State Site with some of the costs and a link to approved schools. The person willing to hire you should have some of this broken down for you if they hire other agents.

Would you have an idea of what I would be looking at to just be able to be an apartment locator. I understand the variable costs with schooling.

I am more interested in the prices associated with testing and post passing the Real Estate exam

Thanks
