David I am surprise to hear that CB and many of the offices in your market charge you desk fees.

That sounds more like the Re/Max model, where the splits are in your favor. Even re/max or many of their office now do a split verse the monthly fees, some with caps other with no caps.

I'd be interested to hear if this is an isolated issue or one that is more prevalent in different markets throughout the country.

David,

Try RSVP in Bellevue. Good people and their fee once you subtract the E & O insurance is one of the lowest I have seen.

$50/mo fee at eXp Realty. No office - we're virtual. Company gives you buyer leads through SeattlePowerSearch.com. I can get you more leads through Craigslist + RealGeeks IDX. Revenue sharing plan (better than KW) pays out the company split down through 7 levels of recruits. That's your retirement plan from real estate.

Keep in mind that the office has to pay L&I insurance for every agent with the firm, and possibly malpractice, so most firms will charge at least some fee, maybe $50. If you were talking about a significantly larger fee (e.g. $500) then there should be lots of choices.

I am fine with the L&I and Malpractice which makes sense and would be agreeable but paying fees for web site and email does not make sense because I can get a website and email for substantially less. My fees were at $150 and 50/50 split and within the 3 years I never received anything other than fees. I realize that is not much if I am selling a ton of property but I was and am I guess fairly new and without a good client base it’s very hard. I like doing it but just can’t afford the fees that don’t provide anything.

Sorry about that, I didn't realize it was cut off. Does anyone know of an office that does not charge a monthly fee? I don’t mind the split but don’t like paying an office fee with no benefit.

Real Estate Brokers office. I was with CB Bain but their desk fees went up and its just not worth the fees to stay.
