How do you get buyers past power lines near the property?

Asked by Dana Tippit, Chesterfield, MO Thu Jan 29, 2009

How about those power lines??? I have a totally updated listing with terrific amenities in a great area/school district. However, the power lines near their back yard are scaring off buyers and contracts. How do you all sell and market around this issue?

Thanks, Dana Tippit St. Louis, MO.

Aloha Dana,

Considering the health issues attributed to living near power lines, marketing to families and the elderly will be a harder sell than to other demographics. I imagine the power lines you mention are the massive kind that sits upon giant towers, the variety that is believed to increase the rates of cancer amongst nearby inhabitants. If this is the case, honesty is the best policy and disclosing that info is the most responsible and ethical course. In marketing the property the listing price should reflect the inherent health risk involved and be priced attractively. Best of luck
