Dear Monique, In my experience Aurora is one of the WORST when it comes to short sales. I had no luck with finding an upper management supervisor or escalation team member. So sorry. The last short sale that I closed with them took me literally 15 months. After all that time, postponements, etc. the buyer holds up the closing due to their financing causing me to request one additional postponement. I made two to three requests per day in hopes of receiving some sort of response so that we could move forward to close.
Since the buyer's lender and escrow had everything they needed to close with no word from Aurora, even AFTER the expiration of the approval letter on whether they cancelled the file or not, all parties agreed to proceed to close anyway. Escrow submitted the final estimated HUD for approval by Aurora, we held our breath and the next day we received our stamp of approval to close, which we did the very next day. All this drama and speculation for no explanation or reason from Aurora on why they would not grant us an extension. They performed as if there was an extension however. Crazy, crazy transaction. 15 months of torture.
In your situation, what is the motivation for Aurora to postpone the auction? They will be paid either way. I assume the costs associated with the foreclosure process and resale expenses aren't important to them. Who knows with them. I hope that you do get what you need to proceed. Good luck!
