I definitely value my stand alone website. I want something that is completely separate and under my full control from my brokerage or MLS. As others have said, I can brand myself there, send customers there to search listings. I've had lots of leads from Trulia, and it gets them off of Trulia and other public websites onto my own to search. Helps eliminates my competition.

I've recently changed my website to a much more contemporary site. That change is in process even today, so take a look at it in a few days and see what you think!

Absolutely! It is important to have a website that brands YOU vs one that brands your agency and more importantly, one that you can customize as needed to move it up in the google ranks. Original content is king when it comes to google rankings and a company issued site is usually a template that typically doesn't give you much ability to customize to set yourself apart from every other agent in your agency.

I think it's very useful because you can brand yourself and have your own identity. Investing in yourself and marjeting yourselve is money well spent. Your website is yours and you can take it to whatever brokerage
