I did not sign up with Reply, or any of the other lead capture companies. I told them I would give them the benefit of the doubt if they wanted to give me an account, send me leads, and trust me to send them $55 when I thought that it was a good lead that I could work with. Of course they would not do that, they must have a credit card on file. Well, trust is a two way street.
I invited them to check out my internet presence to verify my CA DRE # 00881401. But they just weren't able to send me leads on faith. But they thought that I should place my faith in their promise to not charge my credit card for rejected leads.
A side note: I have an easy to remember phone number, that is used by lots of businesses including the social security administration. My number is often given to lead capture companies as a ruse by web surfing registrants who do not want to give out their own (real) number. So they give out a number they think is made up. (But it is actually real - mine). When a lead generating company gets a hot lead, it sells it to everyone.
Whenever my number is given out by a bogus registrant I get many calls within a few hours of the fake registration. I wonder if each agent gets charged $55 by the lead capture company.
The BEST lead generation I have ever had - Trulia.com.
Trulia.com , at no cost, provided results first. Later they offered premium services.
