Kris -
I am a MAC die hard. But b/c WINFORMs is PC - I ended up get a DUO. I am very spoiled by MAC OS. I work for months, years without a crash and then I boot up the Microsoft brain and CRASH!

Yes and I love it!!!! There are now 4 of us in my office using macs. Our mls can run on citrix, so i can access it, though I cannot print - I have to email listings to myself. Go figure! Maybe one day the mls and rest of the real estate community will figure out macs are better. The very same people who are cursing their Dells are happily plugging into their ipods and podcasting!

Even though much RE Software is web based, they improperly programmed it using MS Java rather than real Java.

Thus... many "web based" programs are only web based if you use IE for Windows. Hence, the need ofr having Windows in some form on your mac.

There are alternatives?

Get yourself a Mac Book Pro (15" is best for travelling and putting into hotel safes), Buy VM Ware Fusion and Windows XP (or Vista, I think).. and it gives you everything you need.

I used Parallels on 10.4 with not much free space, then switched to VMWare Fusion on 10.5 with lots of free space... so not a perfect experiment.. but VMWare Fusion on 10.5 works great!

And if you've not yet set up VMWare, just set up an account on logmein.com on your mac and windows machines, and you can access your windows machines using Firefox on your mac.

Most of my friends have Tablet PC's, but I never found a use for them. You can annotate PDF using full version of Acrobat, and a product called PDFpen (I have it but don't use it much)

I work on both PC and Macintosh. I do all my photo editing and graphic work for my website, but use PC for all my spreadsheets etc.

Hi Elvis, I also came from the graphic arts industry so I use a Mac. It isn't one of the newer ones, so I need a PC to get on MLS.

Yeah.. I'm a MacFreak too... came to real estate from the graphic arts industry, so a serious Macaholic.

I found it works on most real estate software which is internet based these days... I also got a duo, but found I haven't needed the DOS side yet. (phew!)
