As a FSBO you should call an attorney. There are legal questions you will want answered.

I have helped several clients who have done a short sale only to find out they are still on the hook for the second loan.

For the same amount of money dealing with an Attorney / Broker is an excellent idea.

Depending on the type of loan and balance you are defintaly sered by calling an Attorney who specializes in short sales.

Best Regards

I don't know about this being the governments' "only" get out of jail free card. When you have a deficit of $800 billion or so, it seems like it is always easy to find a few more billion when it's needed.

Who was it said "A bilion here, a billion there, pretty soon you are talking about serious money"?

Seriously, do you think the government would nationalize an auto manufacturer like they just effectively nationalized a couple of major banks? Even socialist countries like England de-nationalized almost all of the existing nationalized industries over the past 25 years.
