I think hwy 330 is the quickest and safest way up the mountain and that makes Running Springs especially accessible. Mountain weather is a blessing with occasional curse value as well. Life is affordable and more intimate in the mountain communities and Running Springs is typical in that respect. I live in lower rowco and enjoy lots of wildlife in our national forest backyard. I find motion sensor cameras in the backyard document frequent bear and deer visits to my cabin. ... more

Hi Peanut8146,

You're in luck, Running Springs, CA (92382) is an area that's eligible for the no money down USDA mortgage!

Here's an example:

One of the best things about the USDA program is the monthly mortgage insurance is substantially cheaper than FHA or conventional options.

For example: On an FHA/CHDAP loan of $365,000, the MMI (monthly mortgage insurance) would add $258.54 to your monthly payment but on a USDA mortgage it would only add $152.08!

The other nice thing is USDA will actually allow you to roll in your closing costs as long as the appraised value supports it.

Cedarwood is a very safe neighborhood. It is located in one of the more desirable areas. Running Springs in general is safe because nearly half of the homes are full time occupied. The neighbors will report suspicious activity.
Read the Mountain News Sherrifs report. They report all crime on the mountain weekly.
