No you don't need a Real Estate license to sell your home. However I will say that studies show that people who try to sell their own homes on their own, get less money for their homes and it also takes them longer to get an offer for their homes.
I know a few (discount agents) who charge a very small amount to list your home for you, as long as you share the responsibilities with them, like showing the property etc.

Question asked 2008. Short sale and reos were plentiful. In West Los Angeles CA there has been a shift standard sales are the majority. Getting back to your question listings state if property is a standard, reo or short sale. There are still a few short sales and reo sales available. Do not overlook the standard sales the asking prices maybe competitive.

You might find it helpful to have a free buyer's consultation with a Realtor. As an alternative to attending a 4 hour course, I think you will find a lot of value in sitting one-on-one with a Realtor and getting answers to your questions.

When I meet with first time home buyers, I have a lender on hand to answer mortgage and credit counseling questions and then I go through the details of the contract, home buying process, and the benefits of home ownership. Thereafter, we take it one step further and I gather info on your tastes and needs. By the time we are finished with our session, you will have your questions answered, will be on your way to a pre-approval from a lender, and will walk away with a game plan that fits your ownership timeline. Furthermore, if the time for you to own is sooner than later, we will find some viable homes that are on the market now.
