That depends on what you are doing. If you wrote a contract then either you or if you have an agent you normally provide a response time to hear back from the seller. The sellers can either comply or not but if they are serious and want to work with you they generally will notify you within the time period you specified.

I am sorry to hear about your husband passing. Selling as-is typically brings a significantly lower sales price than addressing the issues before listing. Since most people want a home that they do not have to repair (unless there is equity at the end of the repairs) I would recommend finishing up most of the projects to get top dollar for your home. I would be happy to help you try and figure out what items will need to be taken care of. You are looking in one of the areas that is going to be expensive to rent because you are paying for the area. You might be able to find an apartment to share with someone and the best places to look are on Truilia and Property Pond. KSL rent section also lists a lot of properties for rent.
