Hi Chris: Yes, the missionary folks are busy these days. They are going to leave the country soon and want someone reputable to rent their homes for four or five years at extraordinarily low prices just to make sure the homes are well cared for in their absence. How could you not trust such selfless souls. Just send your first months rent and deposit via MoneyGram or some other service through which money can be picked up at a hundred locations. No, no! They are not trying to pull the wool over your eyes. It's just that they are moving around a lot as they prepare to disembark on their soul-saving missions. And please, they don't want you to bother the people living in the houses now. Good friends. Don't want current occupants bothered while the occupants prepare to vacate. And, did they mention that they are missionaries? Good people missionaries. Good people!

Scams like this must work. They've been around for several years and even the scammers are usually smart enough to drop an approach that doesn't work. So be careful answering any classified ads, especially the ones that are "Too good to be true." They likely will be exactly that.

Best,

What an exciting thing to build an extension onto your home. I wish it was as simple as it sounds. I would be sure and contact a professional and see what his thoughts were. Most of the time people will come look at the property for no cost. It's also good to get more than one opinion when looking at contractors. http://cochisetech.net ... more

Here are a few things to consider:

1. First and foremost you purchased the home to live in. What type of set-up would make you the most comfortable.

2. If you are truly only going to be there for 5 years or less, I would consider not doing the Master addition. Even if you add a basement bedroom with an egress window and tons of natural light, it is still a basement bedroom.

3. You are correct a 2 bedroom is tough to sell. This is considered a starter home in Broomfield. If a family with younger children purchase the home they would want everyone on the same floor, not in a basement bedroom.

Hope this helps

I just meant that in the filters, there's an option for Dogs, an option for Cats, & an option for Other. They're from a drop down selection menu, meaning you can only choose one option, not multiples. This makes it frustrating for tenants who have both cats & dogs.

That being said, thanks for your response and you're right, I can't believe how many BS artists are on this website. Clearly Trulia doesn't give a damn, which makes me unlikely to really use this site.

Any suggestions for good propmgmt companies?

Thanks!

We have a good deal on electrical maintenance in McHenry IL which really helps lower the total cost. I would look around for as many deals as possible!

Oscar,

The costs would include the real estate commision, which would include both the selling and listing brokers, title insurance plus miscellaneous closing fees, HOA transfer fees if you live in a HOA neighborhood, 2013 real estate taxes, and the final water bill. In addtion, some realtors charge a transcation fee which can run up to $500 (I pay the fee that my company charges). I live in Broomfield and would be happy to be of further assistance should you need a professional with over 30 years of experience. Best of luck and congratulations on not having a mortgage! ... more
