When looking to purchase a home are a few things to consider before getting started. First as you have seen is to establish your loan, unless paying cash. I always recommend shopping around and seeing which lender offers the best deal for you. Whether it is the bank you know (which may offer a great deal if running your loan through them) or a well known mortgage company who can close faster and have a wider variety of loan options. I have a number of companies here in town that are well known and happy to help in those regards. Getting pre-approved is the first step to home buying.

Once you have your loan, you want to consider what kind of home you are wanting and which area of town. Are you wanting a normal single family home, are you wanting to be in this area of town (example: Stone Oak, Cibolo, Converse, Medical Center, Universal City, Alamo Heights, etc.) I have helped a large number of client who were moving to San Antonio for the first time and once we established what they were looking for I had them narrowed down to the what they were looking for by the second showing. They wanted to be a certain distance from a location and was able to find them homes that matched their criteria in good/safe neighborhoods.

Feel Free to browse the market on our website. It is a great tool when you are trying to figure out what area you are wanting and what is near those neighborhoods.

I am always happy to help answer questions that you might have. I have helped relocate over 100 people to San Antonio, from military personnel to new corporate hires, several of them who were first time home buyers wanting to invest while the interest rate was still low. Feel free to call me at 210-853-5327.

I wish you the best of luck in the purchase of your first home.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Feel free to browse the entire MLS at my website below. There are a few nice homes currently for sale right now in Windcrest, but of course there will be different ones in June. I can send you listings as they come up, so that you will be the first to see them if you like. Of course this service and the use of the MLS is free to my customers. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that come up.

Have a great day,
