There are multiple dates listed on an MLS sheet. The actual MLS # has only a year inbedded in it. The first number in the series tells you the year that the property was listed. Ie if it starts with a 9, it was listed in 2009. If it starts with a 10, it was listed in 2010, etc. The rest of the numbers are not part of adate, but are sequential with the number of listings since the start of the year.

if you are trying to find out when a property was listed, the dom is the number of days on market, or cdom is continuous days on market. NOTE - if a home has been relisted, it may get a new MLS number. If the home is taken off the market for 60 days, the days on market count goes back to zero and we start over again. So we list the home in 2008. doesn't sell. We take it off the market for 60 days and relist it, days on market revert to zero, we start over. it doesn't sell. we take it off the market for 60 days and relist it. days on market revert to zero. We start over. - The cycle can go on and on, As a consumer you can't tell. Only a Realtor with access to the property history section of the MLS can tell.

the bank you refinance through will send an appraiser who will determine the value and who will pull the comps, they will not accept any comps that you present them with.

If you want to try and judge it for yourself so you have an idea of the value of your home before you refinance, then you can go to the county website and look it up under their real property section

http://revenue.stlouisco.com/ias/

or you can befriend a Realtor and ask them to be nice to you and run the MLS comps for you.
