There is a lot more to your question than you may realize. What is the condition of the HOA? What is the size of the unit? (is it a studio that can be converted to a 1br unit or is it a 1 br unit)?

There is a list of other question I can likely list.

Consult the services of a realtor and attorney to help you in the buying process.

Hello Jenny,

If you like your neighborhood and the basement is dry, I would update.

However, if you don't want to deal with 6 months of noise, contractors, and dust, you should give it a fresh coat of paint and buy something that is move-in condition.

Sincerely,

Hello Diane,

It is very unusual for a building to charge different valet prices depending on if the driver is an owner vs. renter.

However, every building is different. -- The thing to do is ask the building management and view the building's bylaws.

Sincerely,
John Meyers

How long after the contract was initiated does the buyer have to ask for repairs from their home inspection? Does the request have to be in writing (I would think so) or if the realtor says, let me know what repairs you might make", can be considered a legal request for repairs, she (realtor) is serving as seller/buyer. ... more
