That's not good news. First thing is the agent needs to get this short sale delayed from sheriff sale. Typically the bank will delay the sheriff sale once for about 60 days to allow the sale. Make sure that the seller's have submitted all of the information to the bank that the bank is going to want to see. And make sure the agent is calling 2-3 times a week to make sure someone is looking and the file and log those calls, who they talked to, what they said, what they said the next step would be. Short sales are difficult but most times you get such a good deal, it's worth the wait. Good Luck! ... more

No. We are German Citizens and we have bought and sold houses under J, H and Green Card, no difference. The one thing you need to be is legal, if you do not have a SNN get a Tax ID number. Best is to go to a local bank.
Only difference might be if you sell and you are moving back to where you came from, if there are any taxes due the title company will withhold them.
