The market is really great now for buyers! I would buy since the prices are way down and you are considering renting out your home later. We bought a home last year for less than a quarter of rebuild value in Cassopolis, but South Bend has some great bargains, too. Be sure to check out the crime rating map here on Trulia, and LOOK at the crimes listed, since some areas that look high in crime turn out to be high in traffic stops. Good luck. ... more

Yes its tough, especially so since you are dealing with Bank of America.

If your Realtor is not giving you information its probably because she hasnt been given any information by the bank. Is she calling them weekly for updates?

If you were my clients I would recommend you keep looking for another home while you are waiting on their answer. If you find something you like, then you can withdraw your offer to purchase on the short sale. This has been a successful strategy for the young couple I have been working with. They will be closing on their home in 2 weeks! (Not the short sale home)

Good luck!

Indiana Law does not allow a realtor to suggest a price to a client the best thing i could say is have a market analysis done on the property see how many bids are on it and go from there
