There is no guarantee the bank will approve your offer. While most short sales do go through, you are risking having to move if your offer falls apart. You should find out a little more about the short sale first. Who is the short sale lender? Is there more than one lender involved? Have either of the lenders (if more than one involved) approved the sale? Has the bank done a BPO (bank appraisal) on the property yet? Having lived in Tallahassee for about four years, I understand your plight when it comes to transportation to the area. Plane tickets are a little pricey since its airport isn't as mainstream as MIA, and the greyhound... who would really want to ride the greyhound after all the stories that people circulate amongst themselves? If you ever reaaaalllly really need a ride, Florida State University's TMT bus travels from there all the way to Miami at a relatively low cost almost every weekend, and since most of its passengers are mostly students, there isn't really an issue over how smelly your neighbors are (i hope)! This was my main way of getting between there and Ft. Lauderdale, because we all know that driving for 7 hours by yourself is a hassle and expensive. This way, you're giving yourself a break, and indirectly saving the environment. ... more
