The 1099-C does mean that they have charged off the debt on their books. However, that does not mean that they have given up their legal right to pursue the deficiency. They still may file for a judgement or sell the note to a collection attorney or agency who may do the same, only more vigorously. ... more

IF your bank has already accepted the contract as it was before this addendum ,then the buyer is obliged to buy on those terms. The bank will have a bottom line in the Short sale payoff letter. That is what they will accept and want at closing. I do not think that your Realtor is correct that the bank will just pay the extra $9000. That will have to be re negotiated with your lender and they may or may not agree to that and issue a new S Sale letter. ... more
