Are you kidding me?! They cannot request you to vacate the condo or that you have to have minimal furniture in your home. Unless, they pay for your extra furniture to be moved, placed in a store unit, moved back at their expense, AND pay for your stay in a "comparable home" for those 2 weeks (also paying the deposits & fees). It is obvious they won't do this and they are overstepping their bounds of being an owner. It is NOT in the lease they were going to do this nor do you have to. An owner who fixes up the property by painting etc., is a great thing....but I fear they are preparing your condo for another tenant at a higher rent and/or a family member to move in.....depending on where you are in your lease, prepare to start off with a unreasonable owner who will not be angry you won't comply...Also, they cannot "end' your lease for non compliance, since they are not fixing something that could damage their home (ie; water leak, mold, electrical issues, HOA request for safety issues)...You have the power to say NO and say NO...do NOT fold under threats or imtimindation. Prepare to have your lease NOT renewed so keep that in mind....You have your lease and law on your side. Make sure you keep all emails, texts, messages from these new owners and let them know via the same that you wont comply with these demands unless they pay for it (and they won't). You explain it is not cost effective and will disrupt your home. So in addition to them paying for your move and storage, how about your 'inconvenience'....so the ball is in your court and they will have to wait until you move to start their major renovations. Compromise is an option, but since the owners have not offered you any help financially, then they really expect you to comply without question....Good luck and keep us posted ... more
