It seems you were working with the listing agent. Did you have your own realtor working for your best interests? If not, you need to know that the listing agent was hired by the seller and has no responsibility to you for disclosing liens or anything else. In all real estate transactions, it's the buyer's responsibility to verify everything and to uncover any hidden issues before the closing date. Once you own the property, any issues is your responsibility and in most cases there is no recourse to go after anybody.

Especially in a short sale transaction, it would have been in your best interest to have your own realtor who would have uncovered the liens thru a title search.

Rental rates can vary significantly in Mount Pleasant depending on the specific location, proximity to beach access, schools etc. Generally speaking rental rates will start on the low end at +/-$1.50 per square foot and can run as high as $3.00+ per square foot based on location and amenities. Generally speaking for a new build in the Old Village I would assume a rough starting point would be something like $2.50 per square foot and could go higher.

The Condo Association is responsible for the property coverages for the exterior of the structures including wind/hail coverage or riders. But it never hurts to ask your Condo Association to provide you with copies of their policy and associated provisions. As the owner of a unit you should have coverage for your contents and the interior of the unit.
