Hi,

Currently, Trulia does not have the tools to correct individual sales transactions. That said, this is a known issue and we are working towards creating a better experience for our consumers. What we can do to as a workaround is to remove the entire Price History section. Although we do not have the ability to fix or remove individual dates, we do have the ability to remove the entire section. This will remove every price history from display on your property page including the incorrect transaction. Although I understand this is not the most ideal solution, this is something we can do for you to help resolve this as best as we can. If you would like to proceed with removing this section, please let me know.

For future reference, you can feel free to contact us about this type of inquiry through our contact form here:

That is the whole point. We are stuck and have no recourse. Why aren't buyers protected from this kind of thing? We didn't learn of the cracked flue until we just had the chimney cleaned, three months after the sale. There is no way for us to verify the condition of a chimney flue prior to close?? This has nothing to do with the home inspection. It was a separate contractor who was asked to check out the chimney flue. ... more

A Short Sale is anything but short. The corporate wheel moves very slowly. Agents who are dealing with short sales are dealing with employees of the bank on the other end of the phone line who work 9-5 and have a lunch hour and breaks. There is no sense of urgency. If one piece of the package is missing when they pick it up to review, it is placed at the bottom of the stack and the clock begins ticking again.

The big challenge is if there is a second mortgage on the property as well. Especially if the second is with another bank or lender. Sometimes they refuse to cooperate and that can put on the brakes rather abruptly.

I definitely think that Frank has given you the best advice which is have a backup plan.

Good luck,

Frank, I appreciate your correction... this was info provided by an individual company that works exclusively with short sales and foreclosures and is based upon statistics that show a bank generally gets 20 cents/dollar more (on average) with a short sale. Your advice and experience is much appreciated and exemplifies just how varied and complicated the process can be. The somewhat good news, however, is that the process should become more manageable as each player involved becomes more adept and educated at handling this ever-growing segment of the market... from the banks, to the lenders, to the agents involved. ... more
