Janeene Silvester answered:
You are asking if you buy an older house next to a new community, will your home decrease in value when the new development is completed, right? The answer is: No. Especially if the new development includes new stores, increased walking paths and amenities that aren't present right now (*Starbucks, grocery stores, restaurants...etc).

Check out this link:

Also, there are always new homes or new construction wherever you go. It depends on your individual house. If you keep up with repairs and make sure your home is well-maintained, then you have nothing to worry about. If you let it fall apart while everyone around you makes improvements...then, yes. Yes, your home price will suffer.

Hope that helps! Happy House-Hunting!!!

You should also consider setting up an account on Postlets -- it's free and the ads are posted to all major search engines-- INCLUDING TRULIA -- for free!!!

And you can then use the system to post your ad to Craigslist. FOR FREE.

I am from CA. I would like to mention you that different states have different laws and forms beside the federal's. You should talk with your broker. As a new agent, a experienced broker who loves to share his/her knowledge with you is the most important thing.

CA is called pioneer state in real estate and law industries. We have a lot of differences with other states. I can not help you on any particular question but if you have any marketing or concept question, let me know.
