Thank you. Yes, Belal and Anna are correct. The maintenance for a 3 Br/2Ba in the building will be $1k to 1.25k although the combined property will be close to 1,800 sq ft vs. 1,200 sq ft. I also observed that combined coop units usually take longer to sell in Queens due to the high maintenance. Plus we'd need to go through the NY DOB, which may be a complicated process. We were planning to just open up an entry way (80" x 30") in one of the common walls but will need Architects/Engineer inspections/sign-offs. The layout may not be pleasing to a majority of folks and it does seem NOT to be a sound decision. Thank you again for the advice.

With the past couple of storms that hit NYC, are you seeing trend where families are moving back/staying in Queens vs. Long Island/NJ? This is one of the considerations that led us to this path. At least our building did not lose power/heat and there was no flooding. We are very thankful that we were spared from the storm and we feel the pain of everyone having difficulties at this moment (our thoughts and prayers are with you). The gas situation is also not helping. Hope everyone is safe.
