Mitchell Feldman answered:
Dear Anne (I assume you are in Brooklyn, NY right?):

It is possible for you to list the property with more than one agent. Just make it clear to the agents what you intend to do from the get-go and it should not be a problem.

Some agents will not be willing to help you as they will be looking for an exclusive agreement. This is usually the case with the more successful agents. This is due to the amount of effort they put into the marketing and renting/selling of the property... they need to know that if the property gets rented/sold during their representation of you that they will be compensated for their efforts.

If you do not list exclusively with one agent then the agents who do chose to help you will not put in much of an effort because they know you may tell them the next day that someone else rented the property and then every bit of energy they put into helping you would be for naught.

Either way it is fine, it is just a matter of personal preference on behalf of yourself and the agents you speak to. Also make sure you read and understand any paperwork you are asked to sign so there will be no surprises later on.

Sincerely,
Mitchell S. Feldman

Zhzng,

Contact a Trulia agent in this New York City area and let them guide you through the process. But don't wait. If it's a good value it will be gone quickly.

Good luck,
