Dear Joel,

Let me start by say that a licensed real estate agent in NJ is not able to answer any questions about demographics, security or crime due to our licensing regulations. AND I don't think you want to base your decision upon the personal opinions of any one person.

I suggest going straight to a public resource and getting the undisputed "facts" from a non-biased source such as the local police station, a newspaper reporter or use the internet to research neighborhood blogs, real estate website(there is usually a link to neighborhood information on these sights) and other such resources.

I also recommend you visit the neighborhood you are focused on during and after non-school/work hours and "SEE-FEEL" for yourself. Stop and speak with the people who live there (young and old alike) and then gather your own opinion about the neighborhood.

This may not be the answer you were hoping for - but it is an honest one and hopefully if you follow these suggestion you will be able to get "factual information" and form your own opinion, which - after all - is the one that counts in the long run.
