Short answer is- there is no law, but lender's typically need it in. If not "in", it should at least be "planned" on being in the home near the time of closing.

This can be quite common on a foreclosure. The deed needs to be checked to make sure it was recorded. I hear this happening quite often. Any problem is when a mortgage is not discharged and it will show up on the title work. This to can delay a sale. ... more

Homesales Inc. was the mortgage servicer for Fremont Investments. Fremont Investments sold it to JP Morgan Chase. If Homesales Inc. is listed as the owner, the property is a Chase REO. Call this number for the Chase REO Dept.: 1-877-584-3290.

They will not deal directly with buyers (they are robots who follow a procedure that includes hiring a local broker to sell each home). They will tell you the status.
