I keep getting a low score for the school on greatschools.org when I put in Gulfport elementary, but if I put Gulfport Montessori Elementary it gives a good score. So I'm confused. We are moving to this area, and I my 5y/o will be attending here and I just want to know is it really a good school or should I find her somewhere else to go? Thank you.... more
I would suggest going to the Pinellas County School Web site: http://it.pinellas.k12.fl.us/schools/
If you go under the zoned school indicator you can put an address in to see which school it would be zoned for.
"Currently, parents have the option to have their child attend their zoned neighborhood school, or to apply to a magnet, fundamental or career academy program. The district offers 6 elementary magnet programs, 4 middle school magnets, 11 high school magnets, 10 career academies, 5 designated career technical programs, and 4 elementary area magnets." To get an in-depth look into these programs, go to the website and click on the corresponding headings
. Since you live in the Tampa Bay area, I also have a free automated service called CITY (Curbside Info to You) available 24/7. I issue you a number you can call on ANY Real Estate For Sale sign and a computer reads the MLS information to you from the street address for all ACTIVE MLS listings. If this would be helpful let me know. I just need your cell phone and an email to register it. Once it is registered you won't get annoying follow up calls. If you want to talk to me there is a prompt or you can call me on my cell. If you want to put it on multiple phones, I can put up to three numbers on one user name. Just send the numbers you want added. I will email you the number you call in on and get the information. Put it in your favorites for quick access when you are driving around. I use it all the time.
I feel an informed client makes the best decisions regarding their real estate needs. Let me know if I can be of assistance.
Trina, I do not have any kids but a lot of my friends and clients tell me that the Seminole are has great schools.
Also, it is a great place to buy property
Good luck with your exciting new venture
If you are talking about schools, my advice is put your children in a private school. Southern schools are not the cream of the crop. We moved from Virginia to St. Pete in the early 1990's. Our kids were way above their classmates (and they were in public school in Virginia). We moved North and West again 3 years later and they had some catching up to do. I'm glad we settled where the quality of education was better as they all got into wonderful colleges.... more
Riviera Middle on 62nd is being closed and is not projected to reopen. It was a good school and had some good teachers which are being placed at other shools. There are still some good schools around depending on the how your child is as a student.
My daughter just graduated from St. Pete High so I have been out of midle school for a little while. Some of the people I know have indicated they like Lealman and Thurgood Marshall. They may be a little of a drive but sound like they have had some good experiences.
Hope that helps. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I also know a couple of great realtors in the area that may be able to help you find the right home for you and your family.
