Hi AL, I have three children and have lived and owned homes in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. Costa Mesa is an excellent city to raise a family. There are several good public schools and all are part of the Newport Mesa School District which is a unified school district that manages all the public schools in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa (http://web.nmusd.us/) There are some areas that are rated better than others. Most clients would prefer either Eastside Costa Mesa for elementary schools such as Mariners Elementary in Newport Beach (there are Costa Mesa streets that feed into that school), Woodland Elementary and Newport Heights Elementary. Also, California Elementary school in Mesa Verde is well-respected, this is the neighborhood around the Mesa Verde Country Club. And Davis Magnet is highly rated, there is a waiting list but you can live in any part of Costa Mesa and attend Davis if admitted to the school. There are also several private school choices too.
