In my personal opinion this sounds like a scam. Further more, I have no idea what code they would be looking for.

Hi Martine,

There are many houses available in the area that I am sure you will like. Not to mention, with the low interest rates, it's a great time to buy. In order to help you best, I would need some additional info regarding # of bedrooms, size, updates, etc. that you would like the house to have. Feel free to contact me and we can start your search. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers,
Al Pratte

Everything is negotiable, like Thomas said. Landlords will try to make it work if you are a great applicant, within reason of course.

Greetings!!

The Providence and Pawtucket areas are a clear option, both offer city living with close proximity to Commuter Rail Service... or you might choose the appeal of being closer to the beaches and ocean - maybe even some farmlands. For that... North Kingstown offers rail service as well. It is further south so that will have some impact on your travel time... but it's an amazing community with extremely appealing amenities.

Either way... whether be me, or another Realtor, that you choose to work with... I STRONGLY suggest that you select a professional to guide you.

Good luck in your search... and have a great Summer!!

I recommend that you go to the town hall and ask if the home is zoned multifamily. If you don't have smoke/carbon alarm and don't wish to move, invest in one from a hardware store. At least this will help you not worry about fire/carbon monoxide. Protect yourself if the landlord does not.

Also get a hold of Tenant/Landlord book. Consult Fair Housing. Good luck. This is my opinion, always consult a lawyer for legal advise.

As far as I'm concerned everything was legal, except asking to pay rent and be out in 30 days. Call it what you will or won't but that changes the whole scenario. I understand your interest in the sale, but perhaps Realtor's need a lesson in humbleness. Without the people and families who can only afford to rent,,,,, this is the true source of income for commercial ownership of these investment houses. Therefore - those who become landlords should be THANKFUL so many are not able to be Homeowners. So Humble Yourselves and Grow a Heart not a "pair."

The house has been sold, the new owners want to move in,,, the sale is contingent on the house being vacated by July 31st. We were personally handed a document I refused to sign, (I was never on the lease-my roommate is) We never intended to not vacate, but we surely are not going to leave ourselves without enough to move.
I stood my ground,,, we will vacate on the 31st,,, hold this months rent to move and signed a document forfeiting the security. We have located another nice place, nearby,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the transition can now proceed smoothly. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GREAT ANSWERS---- it helped me decide the course to take..
