Hi there- It appears that this particular unit is already sold. At this point, all of the other units in that complex are short sale contingent, meaning they have an accepted offer that is being negotiated with the bank. You always have the option of submitting a back-up offer. It is very common for first position offers to get tired of waiting for the short sale to be approved, in which case, the back-up offer is sometimes well positioned to be able to come in later in the process and, therefore, potentially have less time to wait.
The short sale process can certainly be lengthy. Many banks are working to streamline their process and, in some cases, you can find a short sale that has been pre-approved through the government HAFA program or a bank-specific program. In those cases, you can sometimes actually get the property into escrow within a few weeks.
I am very familir with the complex that you are interested in, as I live directly across the street. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you in your search for a new home!
