Hi William,
Wonderful. We look forward to having a new South Carolinian. That said given you are moving from MS you won't find to much of an adjustment. The main areas in Columbia are Northeast, Southeast, Irmo, and Lexington. Definitely look at the school districts to help make your decision in addition to your desired lifestyle. As you know every area has more and less appealing sections. Contact a local agent and talk a bit about your needs and wants. When you purchase you want to find a home with great market value as well as room to grow. An agent can even help you find a home to rent if that is your desire.

You'll have to get used to the difference in our barbeque style. We have a mustard based sauce.

Hi Tammy,
I have raised two children in Columbia and there are many neighborhoods that still believe "it takes a village to raise a child". So you would have lots of help as a single mother. And what is the age of your child? With the University and Medical school we have a strong progressing Community with great health care, all types of entertainment with Museums and a Nationally recognized Zoo, as well as southern history as you find in Richmond. The one of the advantages of living in Columbia you get so much "bang for your buck"! I am an Columbian but I have traveled and lived other places, so I under what it is like to move in a new community.
I will be glad to give you tour and help you find your perfect neighborhood. Just call me 803-730-6330 or go to my website and email me. Regards, Ene
