I have lived in Smyrna for the last 15 years and most of my family lives in Marietta. There are pros and cons to both places and that really depends on what you are looking for in a community. Feel free to give me a call and let me know what is important to you. My # is 678-559-7826.

I think the positive comments are from people trying to sell. I moved from Smyrna and it took us 5 yrs. we ended up selling for what we bought it for in 1999. Two little old ladies bought our house. No one w/ children want to move to Smyrna. You have to put your children in private school. You could move to a much nicer area in east Cobb for the same price and put your children in public school there. ... more

I have a family in the area Dawn speaks about and lived there since 2007 and I think Dawn either had a single bad experience or doesn't know what she is talking about.

I think your response would cause unnecessary alarm. The area Dawn is speaking of is one of the most high-end areas after Vinings, and in fact isn't even Smyrna but is called "West Vinings". There are a few Smyrna neighborhoods mixed in as well, mostly new developments. The area between S. Cobb Dr and Atlanta Rd has million dollar homes within walking distance and if it were so dangerous as you say, people wouldn't be living there. Right there is also Ivy Walk and my neighborhood, which is in Smyrna right across South Cobb Dr along the East West Connector. It is the BEST part of Smyrna in terms of crime. ... more

there are currently 7 four bedroom rentals $1600 or less in 30082. As far as to purchase for less than $1,600/mo that would be determined by the loan amount for which you can qualify. Have you spoken to a lender? May I recommend one that you can speak with and see if you could obtain a loan? It is the absolute best time to buy if you can.

Only 3 hurricanes have hit the Georgia coast in the past 106 years. I'd worry more about tornadoes - they seem to strike everywhere around the metro area equally, downtown as well.

We're also overdue for an earthquake. - http://earthquake.usgs.gov/regional/states/georgia/history.php ... more
