YES! Throughout southern Westchester, parking rules are strictly enforced because I’ve received tickets in Eastchester, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, New Rochelle and White Plains over a period of years. NEVER assume you will get away with parking illegally for “just a few minutes.” Garth Rd. is always busy and has very limited parking considering the number of shops by the train station.

As for Election Day specifically, I don’t know but I would consider Election Day as a regular day. It’s not one of the Federal designated holidays.

I have lived on Langdon Avenue for 28 years, one block from Tecumseh and have never had a security issue. We have 4 vehicles here.

Once more than ten years ago, I had a minor incident with one of my cars, it was on the street .. hey, we live in a city. however, when I lived in Manhattan, it was at least once a year..when I moved to Westchester ironically parking in Scardale daily for 4 years, my van was vandalized numerous times.! ... more

Looking for an apartment can be a tough job if you can't find a reasonable price range to look at. It is pretty easy in a college town because there are tons of apartments to look at. I feel like you can get the best deals living where there is a high demand for apartments because there usually is a good price range. The second thing I would look at is how nice the apartment is.

I had the opportunityty to provide the inspection service for this beautiful estate. The amenities were plentiful to say the least. I'm sure my clients will enjoy living there.

The asking price at the time was $11,400,000 and I believe the sale price was $10,884,000.

I've been helping First Time Buyers for 23 years as a mortgage professional and I will tell you what I have always told my clients here in New York: If you are a First Time Buyer, steer clear of foreclosures and short sales.

Foreclosures are someone else's headache. The home probably has not been well-maintained and you're a First Time Buyer adjusting to paying a mortgage. Do you really want to walk in the door to someone else's deferred maintenance that YOU will have to pay for? Also, if you're thinking there are deals to be had in terms of lower prices, mostly those "deals" go to professional investors who can pay cash, negotiate hard with a Lender, and close fast.

For Short Sales, my attitude of late is that First Time Buyers should steer clear. Short Sales tend to be a better deal for the homeowner than for the Buyer. You'll wait MONTHS for the homeowner's Lender to approve the short sale; maybe as long as Six or Seven Months. Meanwhile, you're stuck in a contract to buy that home. I closed a short sale recently with a Buyer who, after seven months said this at the closing table, "I don't even want this house anymore."

And he didn't even get the "deal" on price he thought he was getting! The house appraised for only slightly more than he paid for it at the short sale price. He walked into this deal thinking he was buying a home for $100,000 less than it's value. In the end that wasn't the case.

There are plenty of motivated Sellers with their homes listed on your local MLS. Go find a good Local Mortgage Banker, get prequalified, then find a great, experienced Realtor, and buy the home you want at the price you're willing to pay.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

North salem is like another world...it's quiet, friendly, beautiful, safe and is the best kept secret anywhere. There is no mall here, but you can buy anything you want within a 10 minute drive. And the shoppers aren't making traffic in North Salem!

Are you working with a Realtor on your side, if you are buyer or renter you need to work with a buyers agent on your side. Commit to one Realtor who then will work in your best interest and protect your
interests and guide you through the entire buying process with expertise and experience....
You will get a market evaluation before making an offer, and you get all your questions answered
like some of those above..... all the fees, the condo doc, what is required by the board, how far to
the stations etc.

The buyers agent will work for YOU and his or her services are free to you as in most if not all cases
they get paid by the seller's side at the closing table out of the seller's proceeds.
