We've got crime stat info for Trenton but really, the answer for which Trenton neighborhoods are the safest pretty much follow the average home prices.

Mill Hill - though we have the challenge of being right in the heart of the city. A good thing and sometimes not good.
Cadwalader Heights
Berkeley Square
Glen Afton
The Island

There are absolutely beautiful homes in all of these neighborhoods for ridiculously low prices.

It has nothing to do with whether a home has had a fire or not.......

this is a statewide requirement - homes much be inspected for proper installation of smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and also fire extinguishers.........

Ed, Hopewell Valley schools are terrific.Superior is relative so I would say question that rating. Stoney brook is a newer elementary school built as a result of the expanding population in that area when Brandon farms was built. The middle school services 6-8 and is called Timberlane. The high school is HVCHS. You should look at all area schools though and take rankings etc with a grain of salt. I served on the school board there many years ago and graduated from there before. (a very long time ago) Rankings can be misleading due to errors which arent always caught or due to statistics that dont show entire picture. It is wise to visit districts you are contemplating and if your child has special needs get specifics on those too. Speak with future co workers who live in the areas you are considering. Do your home work.
email me questions if you like. My eldest 2 children graduated from HVCHS.

You did not indicate the reason for your question but my advice, if you have not already done so, is to visit these communities at different times of the day to see if they feel right for you because they are all very popular communities. Your question can be best answered using 2010 Census data.

Deborah Madey answered:
Hi Jennifer,

The debate on the dangers associated with high-tension wires is ongoing. It depends upon with whom you speak. Only your own research on the matter can determine your position. If you determine that you would consider a property near tension wires, determine what discount is appropriate for you in order to offset the negative impact of the location.

Absolutely, the same model house in a development will carry different values depending upon the location. Busy intersections, smaller lots, privacy levels, and high-tension wires are all features, which affect buyers and the amount, which they are wiling to pay. (This is a reason that online estimates of value are often incorrect. This type of data is nearly impossible to factor in an algorithm.)

If you proceed with a purchase of a property near high tension wires, you have the opportunity to gain price and terms advantage at the time of the purchase. Some day, when you become a seller, you must be prepared for a long selling cycle, and be willing to accept less than your neighbors will command for their similar properties. Whatever new information and studies about EMF unfold in the future may affect the marketability of your property in future, and that pendulum could swing in your favor or against it.

I found Lawrenceville to have a small-town vibe - being conveniently located down the street from downtown Princeton and the prep school. The properties in this area of 206 are mostly older homes, but many of them have nice size lots. I never lived there, but I graduated from Rider University and commuted through the back streets of Lawrenceville - the town had a lot of town-wide events for the kids especially. Again, this is my opinion having traveled through Lawrenceville for a few years.

Visiting websites like city-data, nationalrelocation or wikipedia may offer additional stats for the area.

Autumn, I own in Chambersburg. Suggest you check out many previous postings re Trenton. Consider renting there first if you are unsure about buying. I have a very large attached home for rent currently with granite counters stainless appliances 5 bed 3 bath etc. (likely one of the nicest homes in the area) Many high hopes exist (and have for years) talk is of major reconstruction of train station and the transportation district surrounding it. There is also the historic district, improvement district and arena district. I have owned this about 10 years and never heard referral of "bottom" though I wouldnt be surprised. ... more
